The Job Hunt

Hello, everyone! Today's post is a little bit late because I had a job interview today and so I thought I would share with you what I used to get ready. I tried to keep my makeup simple and fresh, so I opted for the Stila CC Cream in Fair 01 (which I have been loving lately). I also went for the bronzer from the original NAKED Flushed palette from Urban Decay to warm up my complexion and the Stila Convertible Colour in Magnolia. I set my makeup with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light to give that fresh, glowy look that's perfect for spring. Since my interview wasn't until 5pm and I was at uni from 11am, I decided to bring along a few products to amp up my look for the interview. These products included the NARS Deep Throat Blush and NARS Sheer Lipstick in Roman Holiday

I wore a beige button up dress from Mango which was perfect for a job interview as it was very professional looking, but at the same time fresh and semi-casual. I paired the dress with beige suede heeled boots from Aldo, and the Mulberry Alexa bag in tan.

Looking the part for the interview was the easy part, feeling the part was another thing entirely. The job interview is for a summer casual position at a high-end makeup destination here in Sydney. Seeing as my Summer holidays consists of three months, I thought I would pick up another job to fill my time. I was very fortunate to have been shortlisted and the first round of interviews were held today. Seeing the other girls was intimidating and I realised that it wasn't productive comparing myself to these other girls; I'm in this interview for me, and I need to show the interviewers the best part of me. So, I began to just go over possible interview questions and possible answers I could give.

Overall, I think the interview went pretty well! There were two interviewers, one who asked more 'serious' questions about challenges I've faced and what my career plans are, and one who asked about who my celebrity inspiration was and what tips I had for looking and feeling great. I will find out tomorrow if I get through to the next round of interviews, so wish me luck!

If I were to give a single tip from what I have learned today, is to focus on yourself and believe in yourself. What the interviewers want to see is who they are hiring and the only way for them to do that is for you to show them who they're hiring. Show them that you want to be there by looking the part and knowing your stuff; do some research on the company! Tell them why you're so keen on joining the team. If the interview is more of a Q&A thing, then answer their questions as concisely (but also as informatively) as possible; don't waffle on. You will find that when the interview is over, you're going to look back on the questions and say "I could have answered that better", but leave knowing you gave it your absolute best. Stand up tall, maintain eye contact, and SMILE!

I wish you all the best for any future job interviews you may have, big or small!
